Sri Lanka Air Force Conducts Successful Flood Rescues in Nikaweratiya and Dompe


Colombo: The Sri Lanka Air Force successfully conducted two emergency rescue missions this morning, amid worsening flood conditions.

According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, a Bell-412 helicopter was deployed from the Palaviya Base to rescue four individuals, including a Buddhist monk, who had been stranded in the Nikaweratiya area. All individuals were safely airlifted and transferred to designated safe locations.

Meanwhile, another Bell-412 helicopter from the Ratmalana Base was dispatched to airlift a person trapped by rising floodwaters in the Dompe area, ensuring the individual’s safe relocation.
