Sri Lankan Ambassador and Minor International CEO Discuss Strengthening Tourism Ties with Thailand.


Bangkok: Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand, Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, engaged in discussions with Dillip Rajakarier, Group Chief Executive Officer of Minor International PCL and Group CEO of Minor Hotels, on October 28, 2024. The discussions aimed at fostering collaborative efforts to boost Sri Lanka’s tourism promotion in Thailand and to expand bilateral tourism relations.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Sri Lanka, Minor International is a prominent Thai multinational company headquartered in Bangkok, focusing on hospitality, restaurants, and lifestyle brands through its subsidiary companies: Minor Hotels, Minor Food, and Minor Lifestyle. The meeting underscored Minor Hotels’ extensive portfolio, which includes eight brands such as Anantara, Avani, and NH, and highlighted its significant presence in Sri Lanka with properties like Anantara Kalutara Resort and NH hotels in Colombo and Bentota.

During the meeting, Group CEO Rajakarier proposed several strategic initiatives to advance Sri Lanka’s to
urism sector and expressed a keen interest in supporting the Sri Lankan Embassy with future tourism promotional activities. Ambassador Edirisinghe emphasized the strategic importance of utilizing Minor Hotels’ global reach to position Sri Lanka as a top travel destination for Thai tourists. The discussions reflected a mutual commitment to attract high-value tourists to Sri Lanka, with Counsellor (Commercial) of the Embassy, Vireshika Bandara, also participating in the meeting.
