Chouddagram: BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on Saturday night called upon his party leaders, workers, and supporters to stay at polling centres until the vote counting concludes on election day to prevent any attempts to manipulate the results. ‘On the polling day, you must wake up for Tahajjud prayers. After Tahajjud, go to your polling stations and offer Fajr prayers together in congregations. Once the prayers are finished, stand in lines in front of the polling centres,’ he stated.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Tarique addressed an election rally at Chouddagram School ground, instructing supporters not to leave the polling stations after balloting. He emphasized the need to guard the polling stations and ballot boxes until voting ends and vote counting is finished. The rally saw a large turnout from nearby villages, with small processions entering the venue from the evening.
The Cumilla-11 (Chouddagram) constituency has garnered attention this time as BNP has nominated Kamrul Huda, while Jamaat-e-Islami’s Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher is also contesting. Tarique outlined BNP’s plans, asserting that the party wants to implement its programmes if voted to power. He addressed concerns about misleading the public with promises, questioning what benefit would come from deceiving people since they would need to return to the public.
Tarique highlighted BNP’s experience in governance, noting that the party has previously run the country several times. He described Chauddagram as a ‘granary belt’ and mentioned plans to introduce a farmer card for marginal and small growers, provide government honorariums for mosque and madrasa imams and muezzins, and create additional employment opportunities.
Despite catching a cold and feeling feverish, Tarique continued his speech, urging the crowd to listen attentively. He remained focused on BNP’s plans, undeterred by negative comments and false campaigns from opponents. Tarique assured supporters that if BNP forms the government, they will begin implementing their plans immediately.
Earlier, Tarique addressed large rallies at Chattogram’s Polo Ground and Feni Pilot School field, continuing his nationwide election campaign. He is scheduled to address further rallies at Daudkandi’s central Eidgah field and Narayanganj’s Balur Math.
