US Ambassador Visits Bangladesh’s Unique Floating Guava Market

Jhalakathi: US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen visited the traditional floating guava market at Bhimruli in Jhalakathi, a popular seasonal attraction in the southern district. Additional Deputy Commissioner Kawsar Hossain greeted the Ambassador with bouquets upon his arrival at around 9 am.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Ambassador Christensen toured the floating market on a small boat where he tasted locally grown guavas. During his tour, he observed the vibrant trade at the market and appreciated the lush green landscape surrounding the area.

After spending some time at the floating market, the Ambassador continued his journey to Atghar Kuriana in Pirojpur by trawler. He was accompanied by officials from the US Embassy and the local administration throughout his visit.

Speaking with reporters at the conclusion of his visit, Ambassador Christensen expressed his enjoyment of the experience. “The beautiful environment surrounded by greenery fascinated me,” he remarked, highlighting the unique charm of the floating guava market.
