Vietnamese Ambassador Engages in Diplomatic Discussion with Sri Lankan Defence Secretary


Colombo: Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Sri Lanka, Her Excellency Mrs. Trinh Thi Tam, paid a courtesy call on the Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), today at the Ministry of Defence.



According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, during the meeting, the Defence Secretary and the Vietnamese envoy discussed key aspects of the longstanding bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Vietnam. They reflected on the diplomatic ties that have endured over the years, highlighting the mutual respect and cooperation between the two nations.



The discussion emphasized the shared cultural and religious heritage, with both dignitaries acknowledging the deep-rooted connections between Sri Lanka and Vietnam through Buddhism. They expressed appreciation for the spiritual and cultural bonds that continue to foster mutual understanding between the two nations.



The meeting also considered avenues for further collaboration in areas of mutual interest, reaffirming the commitment of both countries to enhancing diplomatic engagement and strengthening partnerships across various sectors.



The Defence Secretary conveyed his appreciation to the Ambassador for her visit and reiterated Sri Lanka’s readiness to continue fostering friendly relations with Vietnam for the benefit of both nations.
