Dhaka: Ziaur Rahman Foundation Vice President Dr. Zubaida Rahman on Tuesday emphasized the importance of transcending political divisions to come together in aid of those impacted by national disasters. Her remarks were made during the ’21 July Milestone Tragedy Tribute and Remembrance Programme’ at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the capital, where she addressed the audience as the chief guest.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Dr. Rahman highlighted the moral imperative of prioritizing humanity over politics during times of crisis. She articulated that supporting disaster victims exemplifies humanity’s highest virtues and fosters societal compassion and unity. Dr. Rahman paid homage to the victims of the Milestone tragedy, praying for their eternal peace and remembering the mothers and students who perished in the calamity.

During her address, she expressed sorrow for the nation’s grief over the tragedy and extended her condolences to the bereaved families, encouraging them to channel their sorrow into resilience. She commended the bravery and perseverance shown by the injured, noting that their actions had become a source of national inspiration.

Dr. Rahman emphasized that the experience, though painful, would empower the victims to confront future challenges with strength and support others in need. She lauded their courage as a lasting legacy for the nation, underscoring that their bravery in overcoming fear serves as a lesson in hope and perseverance.

She reassured the affected families of continued support, emphasizing that humanity requires overcoming fear. The event was attended by the families of the Milestone tragedy victims, government officials, injured students, and international representatives. Honorees included several organizations and individuals who provided assistance during the tragedy.
