Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka Engages with Crown Prince of Perak on Economic and Cultural Initiatives


Kuala Lumpur: Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Kuala Lumpur, M.I. Mohamed Rizvi, had the honor of an audience with the Crown Prince of the State of Perak, Malaysia, Raja Di-Hilir Perak, Duli Yang Amat Mulia Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain ibni Almarhum Sultan Idris A’fifullah Shah. The meeting took place on January 24, 2025, in the presence of Her Highness Raja Puan Muda Perak.



According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Sri Lanka, during the courtesy meeting, the Acting High Commissioner briefed the Crown Prince on Sri Lanka’s political stability, economic recovery, and progress in foreign exchange reserves. The discussion also covered the expansion of the tourism sector, signaling Sri Lanka’s economic resurgence. The Crown Prince and the royal family members received an invitation to visit Sri Lanka with Malaysian investors to experience its natural beauty and cultural heritage.



As part of this diplomatic engagement, the Greentown Indian Cultural Society organized an evening cultural performance. The event, attended by the Crown Prince, Acting High Commissioner Mohamed Rizvi, and the Deputy High Commissioner of India in Kuala Lumpur, featured a cultural showcase titled Atulya Bharat. Traditional dance performances captivated over 750 distinguished guests.



Perak Tourism, aiming to foster cultural exchange, previously hosted a visit for the ‘Jaffna Tamil Cultural Team’ from Sri Lanka in 2024. They are currently working with the Greentown Indian Cultural Society and the High Commission to invite a Kandyan dance group from Sri Lanka this year. This initiative is expected to enhance cultural ties between Sri Lanka and Malaysia, strengthen bilateral relations, and promote tourism.
