Vietnamese Ambassador and Sri Lankan Defence Deputy Minister Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

Colombo: Her Excellency the Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Sri Lanka, Mrs. Trinh Thi Tam, met with the Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd.), at his office in Colombo.

According to Ministry of Defence, during the meeting, both parties engaged in an exchange of views on enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in the defence sector. The Ambassador conveyed her appreciation for the successful visit of His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka to Vietnam and the productive engagement in bilateral and multilateral agreements. She noted the visit as a reflection of the strong friendship and solidarity shared between the two nations.

Ambassador Trinh Thi Tam reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to exploring opportunities for defence cooperation, capacity building, training, and knowledge-sharing initiatives with Sri Lanka.

The Deputy Minister of Defence welcomed the Ambassador and expressed appreciation for the longstanding diplomatic ties between Sri Lanka and Vietnam. He expressed optimism about further strengthening the partnership, particularly in areas of mutual strategic interest, and looked forward to continued collaboration in the future.
