MOD Internal Affairs Unit Eases Complaint and Suggestion Submission Process

Colombo: In line with the government’s efforts to strengthen accountability and curb corruption in the public sector, the Ministry of Defence has established an Internal Affairs Unit within its premises following a directive issued by the Presidential Secretariat, under the guidance of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, instructing all government institutions to set up dedicated Internal Affairs Units to address complaints and ensure transparency in operations. This Unit was established by Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyakontha (Retd) on May 20.

According to Ministry of Defence, as part of the programme, several complaint boxes were placed within the Ministry of Defence premises today (July 11) to facilitate the submission of complaints and suggestions by both Ministry staff and the general public. Complaint and suggestion boxes were provided to key institutions under the Ministry of Defence, including the Meteorology Department and Disaster Management Center, to encourage public feedback a
nd improve service delivery.

This initiative offers a confidential channel to submit suggestions, grievances, and concerns related to the integrity of public service, while ensuring that their privacy is protected. It also aims to enhance citizen engagement in public administration.
