Sri lanka: Sri Lanka Railways has announced the resumption of the Pulathisi Intercity Express Train, the Ella Odyssey tourist train, and special train services for school students, in response to increased public demand.
According to News.LK, the Railway Department has scheduled the Pulathisi Intercity Express Train to resume operations from January 9, 2026. This service will run every Friday from Colombo Fort to Batticaloa, and every Sunday from Batticaloa to Colombo Fort. Authorities have also indicated plans to increase the number of compartments based on passenger demand.
Under the new schedule, Train No. 6075 will leave Colombo Fort at 12:45 p.m. and reach Batticaloa at 8:07 p.m. Conversely, Train No. 6076 will depart Batticaloa at 4:00 p.m., arriving at Colombo Fort by 11:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Ella Odyssey tourist train is set to recommence operations from January 7, 2026.
