Talagala: A felicitation ceremony organised by the Ministry of Defence Seva Vanitha Unit (SVU) was held yesterday at Talagala, Homagama, in honour of Mrs. S.T. Darmawathi Paranawithana, the wife of late Corporal T. Paranawithana.
According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, the event was conducted under the consultation of the Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) and the presence of the President of SVU, Dr. (Mrs.) Ruvini Rasika Perera. During the ceremony, the President of SVU presented a token of appreciation in recognition of Mrs. Paranawithana’s dedication and enduring contribution to the nation.
Highlighting a remarkable legacy of service, it was noted that five of Mrs. Paranawithana’s children have served in the Sri Lanka Army, while six of her grandchildren are currently serving in the Sri Lanka Army and Navy. Additionally, four of her sons-in-law have also served in the Sri Lanka Army, reflecting the family’s exceptional commitment to national defence.
