State Ceremony for ‘Walk for Peace’ to Be Held at Independence Square Under President’s Patronage


Colombo: The state ceremony of the international ‘Walk for Peace Program in Sri Lanka’ is scheduled to be held tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. at Independence Square under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

According to News.LK, the international peace walk, organized with the participation of Vietnamese monk Venerable Pannakara Thero and a group of Buddhist monks, commenced on April 21 from Dambulla Royal Cave Temple. The event aims to promote peace and harmony, drawing attention to the significance of unity in the region.

During the ceremony, President Dissanayake is expected to offer sacred relics and a sapling of the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi to Venerable Pannakara Thero as part of the event. This gesture symbolizes the commitment to fostering peace and the continuation of spiritual traditions in Sri Lanka.
