Dhaka: A Khulna court has sentenced three individuals to death for the murder of a man in 2018. The judgment was delivered by Judge Md Khurshid Alam of the Khulna Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-4.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the convicts are A Salam, the son of Kalam Box, along with Khurshid Alam, 35, and Khairul Sheikh, 28, who are the sons of Salam Sheikh from Jhalbari village. The case stems from an incident on March 31, 2018, where Rezaul Sheikh, also from Jhalbari village in Batiaghata upazila, was beaten to death by four individuals due to previous enmity.

The victim’s younger brother, Mezbah Uddin, filed a case with the Batiaghata Police Station on the day of the incident, naming four individuals as responsible for the crime. Subsequently, on September 11, 2019, police submitted a chargesheet against the accused.

The court proceedings concluded with the acquittal of one individual, as the allegations against him could not be substantiated, while the remaining three were sentenced to death for their involvement in the murder.
