CCGP Approves Tk 1,082 Crore for LNG and Urea Fertiliser Purchases


Dhaka: The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) has granted approval for the procurement of one spot LNG cargo along with 30,000 metric tonnes of urea fertiliser, amounting to Tk 1,082.06 crore. This approval came during a committee meeting chaired by Finance Minister Amir Khosru Chowdhury, following proposals from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division and the Ministry of Industries.



According to United News of Bangladesh, the committee approved three procurement proposals. The first proposal involves purchasing one cargo of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) for delivery between August 15-16, 2026. Vitol Asia Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based company, was selected as the supplier after offering the lowest evaluated price of US$22.35 per MMBtu. The contract for the LNG cargo totals Tk 949.43 crore, which includes Advance Income Tax (AIT).



Additionally, the committee approved the procurement of 30,000 metric tonnes of bagged granular urea fertiliser from Karnaphuli Fertilizer Company Limited (KAFCO) for the first lot of the 2026-27 fiscal year. This procurement is set to cost Tk 132.63 crore, with the urea fertiliser priced at US$357.25 per metric tonne.
