Riyadh: Minister of Health of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Fahd bin Abdurrahman Al-Jalajel, welcomed Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Omar Lebbe Ameer Ajwad, during a meeting held at the Minister’s office in Riyadh on 03 November 2024. The discussions centered around potential collaborative efforts in the healthcare sector between the two nations.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Sri Lanka, Minister Fahd highlighted Saudi Arabia’s ongoing initiatives aimed at advancing the healthcare sector in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030. He suggested exploring mutual collaboration opportunities that could benefit both countries. Ambassador Ameer Ajwad, in turn, shared Sri Lanka’s success stories within their healthcare sector and proposed an exchange of expertise between the two nations. Additionally, the Ambassador expressed gratitude to the Saudi Ministry of Health for offering employment to Sri Lankan healthcare professionals, particularly nurses, and expressed readiness to provide f
urther human resources support to Saudi Arabia.

Minister Fahd, who holds significant roles including membership on the Saudi Council of Economic and Development Affairs and Chairmanship of the Transformation Program Committee in healthcare, also presides over several vital boards such as the Saudi Health Council, the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, and the General Authority for Food and Drug.

Accompanying Ambassador Ameer Ajwad was Mohamed Anas, Minister/Head of Chancery of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Riyadh, underscoring the importance of diplomatic and strategic relations between the two countries.
