‘Best Opportunity of My Life’: Moyeen Khan on Working with Khaleda Zia

Dhaka: BNP senior leader and former minister Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan has expressed that serving in the cabinet of former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia was the most significant and rewarding opportunity of his life. He described her as a dignified and just leader, suggesting that a leader of her caliber may not grace Bangladesh again.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Dr Moyeen Khan made these remarks during a discussion and prayer meeting organized by the Saudi Arabia-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (SABCCI) in Dhaka. The event was held to honor the memory of Begum Khaleda Zia. Former State Minister for Education Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon attended as a special guest, and SABCCI President Ashraful Haque Chowdhury delivered the welcome speech.

Dr Moyeen Khan shared a personal anecdote from his time working with Begum Khaleda Zia, recalling an instance when she consulted him about the appointment of a new secretary. This gesture, he noted, was indicative of her inclusive leadership style. Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon also spoke at the event, highlighting the educational reforms initiated during her tenure and emphasizing the importance of implementing her ideals to honor her legacy.

The event saw contributions from various other dignitaries, including BNP advisor Enamul Haque Chowdhury, former senior secretary Shamsul Alam, and Atish Dipankar Science and Technology University Board of Trustees Chairman Shamsul Alam Liton. Engineer Enayetur Rahman, Secretary General of SABCCI, extended his gratitude to all participants for attending the memorial gathering.
