Dhaka: The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) on Wednesday approved three procurement proposals, including contracts for the construction of flood shelter schools and a fertiliser buffer warehouse. The committee also endorsed a revised tariff for electricity purchase from the Ashuganj 450 MW Combined Cycle (North) Power Plant. These recommendations were made during the committee’s meeting at the Secretariat, chaired by Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the committee awarded a contract worth Tk 125.99 crore for the construction of 15 government primary schools that will also function as flood shelters in the Bogura district. This project falls under the Resilient Infrastructure for Adaptation and Vulnerability Reduction (RIVER) (1st Revised) initiative, and is being implemented by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) with financial support from the World Bank and the Government of Bangladesh. The contract was awarded to The Civil Engineers Limited (Lead Partner) and M/S Ahad Builders (TCEL-AB JV) under Package No. LGED/RIVER/BOG/21-22/NW-16.
The CCGP also approved a Tk 49.14 crore contract for the construction of a 10,000-metric-ton fertiliser buffer warehouse in Lakshmipur. This is part of the ‘Construction of 34 Buffer Warehouses across the Country for Fertiliser Storage and Distribution (1st Revised)’ project. The proposal was submitted by the Ministry of Industries and was awarded to M/S MBL-REL JV.
In another decision, the committee approved a revised Levelized Tariff for purchasing electricity from the Ashuganj 450 MW Combined Cycle (North) Power Plant operated by Ashuganj Power Station Company Limited. The revised tariff structure sets the Levelized Tariff Charge at US cents 4.0945 per kWh, equivalent to Tk 5.0281 per kWh. This is based on a plant load factor of 84.6 per cent, a 12 per cent discount factor, a 6 per cent return on equity, an exchange rate of Tk 122.80 per US dollar, and a gas price of Tk 438.91 per 1,000 SCF. The proposal was submitted by the Power Division.
