Year’s Dengue Death Toll Hits 50


Dhaka: Three people died of dengue and 534 new patients were hospitalised across the country in the 24 hours until 8:00am on Wednesday. With the latest fatalities, the dengue death toll has risen to 50 in the country this year.



According to United News of Bangladesh, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported that the new deaths were recorded in Barishal and Mymensingh divisions, as well as in Dhaka South City Corporation. Since the beginning of the year, hospitals nationwide have admitted a total of 14,690 dengue patients.



Out of those admitted, 13,452 have recovered and been discharged, while 1,188 patients are still receiving treatment. The ongoing situation highlights the continued challenge dengue poses to the country’s health services.
