Dhaka: The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) approved two procurement proposals worth approximately Tk 219.87 crore on Wednesday. These projects aim to enhance the livelihoods of Rohingyas and host communities, as well as to establish a solar power project at Bhasan Char.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the decisions were made at a CCGP meeting held at the Secretariat, presided over by Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury. The committee sanctioned the appointment of Padakhep Manabik Unnayan Kendra as the consulting firm for a livelihoods programme focusing on ‘Training Needs Assessment, Market Assessment, Module Development, and Skills Training for RSS Beneficiaries’ under the Department of Social Services. This initiative is part of the ISO Component 05: Socio-economic Development of the Host Community and FDMN through Capacity Enhancement Project, with an estimated contract value of Tk 45.69 crore. The proposal was submitted by the Ministry of Social Welfare.

Additionally, the CCGP approved a proposal for the ‘Electrification at Bhasan Char of Noakhali District’ project under the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB). The project will be executed by the Suhua Construction Group Co, Ltd-Power System Development Co Ltd Joint Venture (SUHUA-PSDC JV) and involves the implementation of a solar power plant with battery backup and associated distribution system on a turnkey basis. This contract is estimated at Tk 174.18 crore and was proposed by the Power Division.
