Beijing: China is willing to work with Sri Lanka to promote a strategic cooperative partnership based on sincere mutual assistance and a lasting friendship, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated during a meeting with his Sri Lankan counterpart, Vijitha Herath.
According to Nam News Network, Wang highlighted the traditional friendship between China and Sri Lanka, noting that the two heads of state had fruitful discussions and reached an important consensus on deepening bilateral strategic cooperation. The talks focused on jointly building a China-Sri Lanka community with a shared future, providing direction and guidance for the development of bilateral relations.
Wang emphasized that China is a reliable partner of Sri Lanka and encouraged deepening high-quality Belt and Road cooperation as well as practical cooperation in various fields.
Herath acknowledged that Sri Lanka-China cooperation has brought significant benefits to the Sri Lankan people and has effectively promoted regional development and connectivity. He expressed Sri Lanka’s willingness to work with China to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state and to strengthen practical cooperation in areas such as economy, trade, investment, infrastructure, and maritime affairs.
