Colombo: The Colombo Municipal Council has decided to temporarily suspend parking charges within Colombo with effect from today until further notice. Deputy Mayor Hemantha Weerakoon made this announcement during a special media briefing held today.
According to News.LK, the decision was taken in view of the difficulties faced by the public due to the ongoing global crisis. Deputy Mayor Weerakoon noted that the Finance Committee of the Colombo Municipal Council had unanimously approved the move.
Prior to the current crisis, parking fees were charged for all vehicles parked in CMC-operated parking areas from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight.
