Kathmandu: The Dr Dilliraman Regmi National Peace Award 2082 has been jointly presented to senior physician Dr. Gaurishankar Lal Das and senior ophthalmologist Dr. Ram Prasad Pokharel. In a ceremony that celebrated contributions to medical science and humanitarian services, the awards were presented by the Dilliraman-Kalyani Regmi Memorial Library Development Committee.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Dr Dilliraman Regmi International Peace Award 2026 was also conferred upon the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). The awards, which included a purse of one hundred thousand rupees for the National Peace Award, were handed over by Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel at a special ceremony organized on Monday.
Dr. Gaurishankar Lal Das has been a stalwart in the areas of medical science, public health, health policy, and humanitarian services. Similarly, Dr. Ram Prasad Pokharel has played a pivotal role in enhancing Nepal’s ophthalmology sector, modernizing eye treatment services, and establishing and strengthening the Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh.
KOICA, honored with the international award, has been a consistent supporter of Nepal, contributing to various sectors such as education, health, good governance, information technology, technical and vocational education, disaster management, and institutional capacity development.
The program was held under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Bina Poudel, Chair of the Library Development Committee.
