Defence Secretary Addresses National Security Challenges at NDC Lecture.


Colombo: Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) delivered an insightful lecture to student officers at the National Defence College (NDC) in Colombo today. The session was part of the National Security and Strategic Studies course curriculum, focusing on the ‘Role of Military in Addressing Contemporary National Security Challenges in Sri Lanka’.

According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, the lecture was an annual event, held at the invitation of the Commandant NDC, Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa. The Defence Secretary was warmly received upon his arrival at the college, highlighting the significance of his contribution to the development of future policymakers.

Inaugurated in 2021, the NDC is dedicated to fostering expertise in national security, statecraft, governance, diplomacy, and international security. The institution aims to bolster the national security framework by preparing its students to tackle complex challenges in these areas.

The lecture concluded with the exch
ange of mementoes, marking the importance of the occasion. Also present was the Defence Ministry’s Military Liaison Officer, Air Vice Marshal Padman De Costa, underscoring the collaborative efforts to enhance national security understanding and strategy.
