Colombo: The High Commission of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in Sri Lanka hosted a reception to celebrate the 55th Anniversary of the Independence and National Day of Bangladesh at the Kingsbury Hotel, Colombo yesterday. Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) attended the event as a special guest.

According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, Hon. Minister Nalinda Jayatissa, the Minister for Health and Mass Media, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Bangladesh High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, H.E. Andalib Elias, along with the Defence Advisor, Commodore M Moniruzzaman, welcomed the distinguished guests at the venue.

In his address, the High Commissioner emphasized the enduring bilateral partnership between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, reflecting on the deep-rooted historical ties and the evolution of modern diplomatic cooperation.
