Defence Secretary Graces India-Sri Lanka Defence Industry Seminar in Colombo


Colombo: The Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), served as the chief guest at the India-Sri Lanka Defence Industry Seminar held at the Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo.

According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, the third edition of this seminar was organized by the Indian High Commission under the theme ‘Identifying New Opportunities and Forging New Bonds.’ Upon his arrival, the Defence Secretary was warmly welcomed by the Indian High Commissioner H.E. Santosh Jha.

During his address at the event, the Defence Secretary emphasized the importance of the enduring Indo-Sri Lanka partnership, highlighting its foundation of mutual trust and shared security interests. He pointed out that India’s rapidly advancing defence manufacturing sector offers valuable opportunities for Sri Lanka, including access to reliable, cost-effective technologies and prospects for training, technology transfer, and joint ventures. These opportunities, he noted, could enhance Sri Lanka’s operational readine
ss while strengthening long-term strategic cooperation between the two nations.

The seminar saw a large turnout of participants, including tri-forces Commanders, senior military officers, senior Indian High Commission officials, industry experts, and state officials.
