Deputy Minister of Defence Joins Reception on Indian Naval Ship Udayagiri


Colombo: Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) attended a reception hosted aboard the visiting Indian Navy Ship Udayagiri at the Colombo Port today, in honour of the visiting Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The event marked a significant occasion, celebrating the strong ties between the Indian and Sri Lankan defense sectors.



According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, the reception was organised by the High Commission of India in Colombo. Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, H.E. Santosh Jha, welcomed the distinguished guests upon their arrival at the port. The event saw the presence of prominent figures including Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning, (Dr.) Anil Jayantha, M.P., who attended as the chief guest.



The reception was attended by various dignitaries including parliamentarians, members of the diplomatic corps, tri forces commanders, and members of the visiting Indian defence delegation. Senior state officials and tri forces officers were also present, underscoring the collaborative spirit and camaraderie between the two nations. The gathering highlighted the importance of mutual cooperation in defense and strategic partnerships.
