Colombo: Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the Ministry of Defence at the Defence Headquarters Complex (DHQC) in Kotte. He was greeted with a ceremonial Guard of Honour and warmly welcomed by Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd).

According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) highlighted India’s ongoing support to Sri Lanka in various sectors, focusing on the robust defence ties and cooperation between the two nations. He acknowledged India’s consistent assistance to Sri Lanka, particularly during emergencies and challenging times.

The Indian Defence Minister emphasized the deep-rooted and close relations between India and Sri Lanka, affirming that the friendship and cooperation between the two countries are set to strengthen further in the future.

The event was attended by Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Additional Secretary (Civil Security and Development) Mrs. Indika Wijegunawardana, Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka H.E. Santosh Jha, tri forces commanders, heads of institutions under the Defence Ministry, members of the high-ranking Indian defence delegation, and senior defence ministry officials.
