Colombo: The High Commissioner of South Africa to Sri Lanka, H.E. Sandile Edwin Schalk, paid a courtesy call on Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) at the Ministry of Defence today. Their meeting underscored a mutual interest in strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in defence cooperation and mutual security interests.
According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, the discussions between the two officials centered on opportunities for enhanced collaboration. Both parties expressed a commitment to fostering friendly relations and explored avenues for future cooperation. The Defence Secretary acknowledged the longstanding ties between the two nations, while the High Commissioner expressed gratitude for the warm reception and conveyed his country’s desire to enhance cooperation in mutually beneficial areas. The meeting was also attended by officials from the South African High Commission.
