Information Complexes to Be Built Nationwide, Says Minister Swapon

Barishal: Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon announced on Sunday that the government plans to build information complexes in all districts and upazilas across the country. This initiative was revealed during his address as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the Divisional Information Complex on C and B Road in Barishal city.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Minister Swapon emphasized that the complexes will act as central hubs for internet-based and IT-driven information services. He cautioned against viewing them merely as large buildings, stating that the objective is to fuse information services with professional expertise and knowledge to create a “knowledge product.”

The complex inaugurated in Barishal was built at a cost of approximately Tk 17 crore. Although the project was intended for completion in 2023, it faced a three-year delay before finally opening its doors.

The event was attended by Barishal City Corporation Administrator Bilkis Jahan Shirin as a special guest, with Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mahbuba Farjana presiding over the ceremony.
