Colombo: The Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government, Professor Chandana Abayaratne, has called for a collective effort from all state institutions, local authorities, and citizens to responsibly conserve water and electricity. This appeal comes in response to the ongoing global energy crisis and the prevailing dry weather conditions.
According to News.LK, the Minister highlighted the crucial role of economical fuel and energy use across all state and local government sectors during a special statement. He emphasized that the maximum contribution from the state sector is necessary to tackle the current energy challenges and potential water shortages caused by reduced rainfall. The Minister also stressed the importance of citizen cooperation in overcoming this crisis.
Professor Abayaratne stated, “Until the global energy crisis eases, we must all adapt to this conservation plan as a nation and a community. Everyone has a responsibility to turn off unnecessary lights at home and use water sparingly.” These measures are seen as essential steps in curbing the impact of the energy crisis on the nation.
