Ministry of Defence Launches Public Assistance Helpdesk at Galle Face


Colombo: The Ministry of Defence has announced the establishment of a dedicated Public Assistance Helpdesk set to commence operations on 21 December 2025, strategically located in the Galle Face area in front of the Presidential Secretariat. This initiative is in response to the rising number of public gatherings during the ongoing seasonal period and aims to ensure a unified and visible presence on the ground.

According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, the Helpdesk will serve as a central contact point for the public, offering immediate assistance, guidance, and coordination in emergencies or unforeseen situations. The coordinated effort involves the Tri-Forces and the Sri Lanka Police to enhance public safety and rapid response capabilities within the area.

The initiative also includes provisions for ambulance services and on-site health assistance to address medical emergencies and provide first-aid support. The Ministry, in collaboration with the Tri-Forces and the Sri Lanka Police, is committed to e
nsuring the safety and security of citizens and visitors in the Galle Face area.
