New Sri Lanka Army Commander Meets with Deputy Minister of Defence


COLOMBO: Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo, the newly appointed Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, met with Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), the Deputy Minister of Defence, in Colombo today. This meeting marked Rodrigo’s first official engagement with the Deputy Minister following his appointment as the 25th Commander of the Army.



According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, the Deputy Minister extended his congratulations to Lieutenant General Rodrigo on his new role and discussed key priorities for the Army under his leadership. The discussion focused on enhancing operational effectiveness while ensuring strong governance and accountability within the Army’s framework.



The meeting underscores the significance of the Army’s role in national security, as guided by the Ministry of Defence. It also highlights the leadership’s dedication to principles of good governance, effective resource management, and the accountability of its operations.
