Dhaka: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman departed from Dhaka early Sunday morning, heading to Kishoreganj by road to participate in a series of events, most notably the formal inauguration of the National Fisheries Week-2026.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the prime minister started his journey from his Gulshan residence at approximately 9:15am, as confirmed by his Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon. This visit marks his first trip to Kishoreganj since taking office following the BNP’s significant victory in the 13th parliamentary election.

During the visit, Tarique Rahman will begin his engagements at the Mirzapur Chairman Bari Ghat area in Pakundia at 11:30am. There, he plans to release fish fry into the Brahmaputra River, distribute more fish fry, and meet with local residents. He is scheduled to visit the Katiadi Carp Hatchery Complex at around 12:30pm.

The prime minister’s itinerary includes the inauguration of the National Fisheries Week and the National Fisheries Award ceremony at the George Institution Mini Stadium at 1pm. Following this, he will initiate a tree plantation programme at Sholakia Eidgah Maidan at 2pm.

A lunch break is planned at the Circuit House at 3:15pm. Later, at 4pm, Tarique Rahman will participate in a programme at the Old Kishoreganj Stadium, where Family Cards will be distributed, and honorariums will be awarded to religious leaders including imams, muezzins, priests, and monks.

After completing these scheduled events, the prime minister is set to return to Dhaka in the evening.
