Diyatalawa: President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, during the 100th Passing Out Parade at the Sri Lanka Military Academy, emphasized the significance of fulfilling national responsibilities with unwavering determination to achieve progress. He addressed the role of the Army in supporting the country during challenging times, such as the recent cyclone, and expressed gratitude for their commendable actions.

According to Ministry of Defence, President Dissanayake stated that national progress requires trust and unity, urging all sectors of society, including religious institutions and security forces, to work together to restore the country’s historical pride and dignity. He committed to fulfilling his presidential duties in rebuilding the nation by strengthening the economy, enforcing the rule of law, and transforming politics into a service-oriented profession.

The event marked a historic moment with the commissioning of 240 cadet officers, including eight foreign cadets, into the Army. President Dissanayake a
warded Championship Colours, swords, and Presidential Merit Awards to outstanding cadets and applauded the Army’s resilience and dedication to public service during the cyclone.

The President addressed the cadets, expressing confidence in their ability to fulfill their responsibilities and uphold the values of the Army. He highlighted the importance of maintaining the dignity and professionalism of the Sri Lanka Army as they embark on their military careers.

The ceremony was attended by key military and government officials, including Deputy Minister of Defence Aruna Jayasekara, senior Army officers, and the families of the graduating cadets. President Dissanayake concluded by inviting all citizens to contribute to rebuilding the nation, emphasizing the need for collective effort and determination.
