Colombo: The launch of the book ‘Intimidated’ authored by Professor Suranga Nanayakkara, Head of Department at the National University of Singapore, took place at the Lotus Hall of BMICH on 28 March 2026 with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya in attendance. The Prime Minister highlighted the book’s contribution to understanding modern challenges, resilience, and innovation, offering crucial insights for education, research, and social transformation.
According to News.LK, the book ‘Intimidated?’ delves into contemporary global and personal challenges, emphasizing innovation and resilience. It provides readers with a perspective based on academic experience and global exposure. During the event, the English translation of the book was presented to the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister congratulated Professor Nanayakkara on the publication, acknowledging its role in inspiring future generations, especially students and young researchers. She noted the significance of critical thinking, embracing challenges, and contributing to society. The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of knowledge-sharing and innovation in creating a progressive educational environment in Sri Lanka.
Additionally, the Prime Minister launched a program to distribute 5,000 copies of the book free of charge to students and educational institutions, underscoring the need to make knowledge widely accessible.
The ceremony was attended by key figures, including Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Mr. Eranga Weeraratne, Secretary to the Ministry of Education Mr. Nalaka Kaluwewa, family members of Professor Nanayakkara, university leaders, education officials, school principals, students, and other invited guests.
