Representatives from The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Discuss Future Economic Policies with Prime Minister


Colombo: Representatives from The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce met with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya on June 24 at the Parliament premises.



According to News.LK, the discussions during the meeting centered on the upcoming Sri Lanka Economic and Investment Summit 2026 (SLEIS 2026), which is set to take place on October 12 and 13, 2026. The conversation also highlighted digitalization initiatives, particularly the introduction of digital technologies in schools as part of new education reforms, and the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in transforming Sri Lanka’s education sector.



The Chamber representatives emphasized that the summit would be a vital platform for promoting both local and international investment. They also noted its significance in influencing the country’s future economic policies.



The meeting was attended by key figures from The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, including Krishan Balendra, Chairman; Vinod Hirdaramani, Deputy Vice Chairman; Shiran Fernando, Secretary General and Chief Executive Officer; Aliki Perera, Deputy Secretary General and Chief Operating Officer; and Anagi Rodrigo-Weerasekera, Chief Economist and Head of Economic Intelligence, along with several other representatives.
