According to News.LK, winds in these regions will be westerly to south-westerly, with a speed ranging from 25 to 35 kmph. There is a possibility of wind speeds increasing up to 50 kmph at times particularly in the sea areas off the coast extending from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
