Dhaka: Two children died with measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours until 8:00am Tuesday, raising the country’s combined tally of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 880 this year. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) classified both deaths as suspected measles deaths, with no laboratory-confirmed measles deaths reported during the period.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the latest update shows that suspected measles deaths have now risen to 782, while laboratory-confirmed measles deaths remain at 98. During the same 24-hour period, a total of 872 new suspected measles cases were reported, increasing the cumulative number of suspected cases nationwide to 138,184.
Additionally, 107 new laboratory-confirmed measles cases were recorded, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 17,385. Since March 15 this year, a total of 120,134 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalized across the country, with 115,980 of them having recovered, based on DGHS data.
