Dhaka: The body of a young man, identified as Rashed Mia, was recovered from Dhanakusha Beel in Nakla upazila on Friday. The tragic discovery came approximately 25 hours after he went missing while fishing in the area.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Rashed Mia, 24, was the son of Zamir Uddin from Bashkanda village in Dhanakusha. He disappeared while fishing in the water body around 9:00 am on Thursday. Despite the efforts of local residents and a Fire Service and Civil Defence rescue team, the initial search on Thursday failed to locate him.
The search operation, led by the rescue team, was called off by the evening, leaving the local community in despair. Undeterred, the local residents resumed the search on Friday morning. At around 10:00 am, they discovered Rashed’s body floating in the water and managed to recover it.
Officer-in-Charge of Nakla Police Station, Ripon Chandra Gupe, confirmed that an unnatural death case has been filed in connection with the incident. The community remains in mourning as they come to terms with the loss of a young life.
