Katunayake: A total of 22 individuals have been arrested by the Police Narcotics Bureau during a special operation carried out last night at the Bandaranaike International Airport, in connection with a large haul of illegal drugs valued at over Rs. 1.1 billion.
According to News.LK, the suspects were found in possession of ‘Kush’ and ‘Hashish,’ which had been carefully concealed inside their luggage. The drugs were hidden using school items, sweets, and specially modified false bottoms within the bags.
Authorities revealed that each suitcase contained more than five kilograms of narcotics.
This seizure is considered one of the largest drug hauls ever recorded at Bandaranaike International Airport, marking a significant breakthrough in ongoing anti-narcotics operations.
