Colombo: The Office of the Commissioner General of Essential Services has issued a set of guidelines aimed at conserving fuel and energy across the country.

Furthermore, illuminated advertising boards and digital screens used for promotional purposes must be turned off after 8.00 p.m. Local government authorities have been instructed to implement a special programme to switch off street lights between 6.00 p.m. and 10.00 p.m.
The guidelines also state that events, including musical shows and gatherings with more than 100 participants, should be conducted without drawing electricity from the national grid.
