Colombo: The Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) chaired a meeting with representatives of the World Food Programme (WFP) and Disaster Management officials today at the Ministry of Defence on the proposed Anticipatory Action, Emergency Preparedness and Response Project.
According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, the meeting focused on strengthening Sri Lanka’s emergency preparedness, resilience, and response capacities under the proposed project, which is expected to receive support from the US Government and be implemented by WFP.
WFP Country Director Mr. Philip Ward, Deputy Country Director Mr. Robert Oliver, and senior officials of the Ministry of Defence and Disaster Management authorities attended the discussion.
