Islamabad: Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Islamabad, A. Christy Ruban, met with the Vice Chancellor of the University of Peshawar, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Naeem Qazi, alongside Sri Lankan students and the academic staff of the university. The meeting, held at the university premises on 22 February 2025, highlighted the longstanding and robust educational ties between Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Sri Lanka, the Acting High Commissioner was warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr. Naeem Qazi, who emphasized the importance of strong educational relationships that benefit both countries. Discussions during the meeting focused on the welfare and safety of Sri Lankan students studying at the university. The Vice Chancellor assured that the university administration is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for international students, ensuring their well-being during their studies.
The Acting High Commissioner expressed appreciation for the university’s efforts in attending to the needs of the Sri Lankan students and acknowledged the university’s role in enhancing academic collaboration between the two countries. Both sides expressed their willingness to further strengthen educational exchanges and deepen ties in the academic sector.
The meeting underscored the mutual benefits of cooperation and the potential for future initiatives that will continue to foster educational excellence and cross-cultural understanding.
