Ambassador of Sri Lanka Seeks Polish Investment in Renewable Energy and Other Sectors


Warsaw: Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Poland, Priyangika Dharmasena, met with President of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, Andrzej Dycha, to promote Polish investment and trade relations with Sri Lanka. Potential areas of investment from Poland to Sri Lanka, including renewable energy, IT, agriculture, food processing, manufacturing, tourism, and hospitality, were discussed.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Sri Lanka, the Ambassador emphasized Poland’s overseas investments in the renewable energy sector and encouraged similar investments in Sri Lanka, which is abundant in natural resources such as solar and wind power, offering opportunities for foreign investors. The Ambassador also provided an update on Sri Lanka’s economic recovery after a recession and highlighted the improving investment climate and attractive incentives available for foreign investors.

The discussions also covered Poland’s expertise in food processing techniques and manufacturing. The Ambassador invited Polish investmen
ts in these sectors, highlighting the potential for advanced Polish technology to enhance Sri Lanka’s textile and agricultural machinery sectors, reduce wastage, and produce quality products. The strategic geographic position of Sri Lanka and the advantages available for foreign investors and businesses were emphasized. Further discussions included organizing investment webinars, visits of business delegations, and solidifying economic relations.

President Andrzej Dycha expressed interest in strengthening investment and trade ties with Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the Polish Chambers of Commerce. He also mentioned the potential for investments in the tourism realty sector, noting the growing popularity of Sri Lanka among Polish tourists.
