Embassy of Sri Lanka Promotes Country’s Culinary Heritage at Saudi Food Culture Festival

Riyadh: The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Riyadh showcased a wide range of Sri Lankan cuisine at the Food Culture Festival 2025, held at Grassy Park in the Diplomatic Quarter, Riyadh, from February 5 to 9, 2025. The event was inaugurated by O.L. Ameer Ajwad, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, at the Sri Lankan food kiosk. Visitors were treated to a fusion of gastronomic experiences across four zones: workshop, theater, booths, and kids’ area.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka became a focal point at the festival, engaging attendees with a mix of workshops, a food kiosk, and captivating live performances. A selection of Sri Lankan traditional delicacies was presented to visitors, with Sri Lankan chefs conducting live cooking demonstrations over three days. The culinary station featured traditional food items such as pol roti, fish cutlets, kottu, kokis, and konda kevum.

Traditional Sri Lankan dance performances by Sri Lanka International School children, along with professional dancers, highlighted the country’s cultural and traditional heritage.

The exhibitors’ area boasted more than 30 booths, featuring food kiosks and retail stores from around the globe, offering visitors a chance to experience a diverse range of flavors and unique cultural items.

The Food Culture Festival was organized by the Saudi Culinary Arts Commission in partnership with the Quality-of-Life Program, a key initiative of Saudi Vision 2030 focused on promoting Saudi contributions to arts and culture.
