Colombo: The inaugural session of the Student Parliament of Boys’ Model School, Malabe was held today at the Old Parliamentary Chamber of the Presidential Secretariat. The opportunity was provided to the school under the ‘Vision’ programme, jointly implemented by the Presidential Secretariat, the Ministry of Education, and the Communications Department of the Parliament of Sri Lanka.
According to News.LK, during the inaugural session, new education reforms were debated, and members of the Student Parliament presented several proposals relating to the proposed reforms. The teachers and students of the school were also briefed on matters relating to the President’s Fund, the role of the Executive, and the rule of law.
Certificates were presented to members representing the Student Parliament of Boys’ Model School Malabe, and a valuable sapling was presented to the school as a symbol of environmental conservation.
Among those present at the event were President’s Legal Adviser Attorney-at-Law J. M. Wijebandara, Senior Additional Secretary to the President Roshan Gamage, Director General of Public Relations Dharmasiri Gamage, and Assistant Director (Administration) of the Parliament of Sri Lanka K. R. Herath, along with officials of the Tri-Forces Security Coordination Unit. The Principal of Boys’ Model School Malabe Mr. Sisira Gunaratne, members of the academic staff, and parents also attended the occasion.
