Prime Minister Meets Pakistan High Commissioner to Discuss Bilateral Cooperation


Colombo: High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Sri Lanka, H.E. Major General (Retd) Nayyar Naseer, met with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya on April 30 at the Temple Trees premises. The discussions centered on strengthening bilateral ties and exploring opportunities for collaboration in various sectors.



According to News.LK, the Prime Minister welcomed Major General (Retd) Nayyar Naseer and expressed appreciation for the support and cooperation extended by the Government of Pakistan to Sri Lanka, particularly following the Ditwah Cyclone. Both parties underscored the importance of the longstanding relationship between the two nations, based on mutual respect, friendship, and shared interests.



The meeting highlighted the potential for enhanced collaboration in education, tourism, and sports, aiming to strengthen people-to-people connections and explore new avenues for cooperation. The discussions reiterated Sri Lanka’s commitment to deepening engagement with Pakistan, focusing on creating mutually beneficial opportunities.



The meeting was attended by Ms. Zunaira Latif, Deputy High Commissioner of Pakistan to Sri Lanka, Mr. Pradeep Saputhanthri, Secretary to the Prime Minister, Ms. Sagarika Bogahawatta, Additional Secretary, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism.
