Wednesday Declared Special Government Holiday Amid Fuel Supply Concerns

Colombo: Commissioner General of Essential Services Prabath Chandrakeerthi announced that every Wednesday will be declared a special government holiday until further notice. This decision aims to address potential fuel supply issues due to the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.

According to News.LK, Chandrakeerthi made this statement during a special media briefing at the Department of Government Information. The measure is part of efforts to manage resources efficiently amid concerns about fuel availability.

He also mentioned that heads of state institutions have been granted the authority to determine the number of employees required to report to work during the remaining four working days of the week. This flexibility is intended to ensure that essential services continue to function smoothly while minimizing fuel consumption.
