Colombo: The New Zealand High Commissioner H.E David Pine met the Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), at the Defence Ministry today. The meeting marked a significant step in fostering relations between Sri Lanka and New Zealand.

According to Ministry of Defence – Sri Lanka, the New Zealand delegation included the Deputy High Commissioner Ms. Gabrielle Isaak, along with several senior High Commission officials. The discussions primarily focused on matters of bilateral importance, aiming to strengthen defence cooperation and enhance economic ties between the two nations.

Both sides exchanged views on collaborative efforts to address issues such as illegal immigration and regional security. These discussions are expected to pave the way for more comprehensive partnerships in the future, reflecting a mutual commitment to enhancing security and economic collaboration.
